Not Just Travel has an internal Commission Reporting System (CRS), which is a business-critical tool responsible for calculating the monthly commissions paid out to the Travel Consultants. The system emails out various reports and includes exports so that they can easily upload for BACS payments. Failure in the system could result in failed or incorrect payments to the consultants.

There is a reliance on the system amongst the hundreds of travel consultants employed by the company, yet there was no one within the business who understood the software languages that the system was written in.

Not Just Travel previously employed an in-house IT consultant, however when the developer left the company the expertise in their internal software system was lost, as is a common issue when companies employee internal developers. The head office team struggled to find internal resource that could take over maintenance of their product.

Immediate development enhancements were also needed to ensure it could facilitate their travel consultant’s administrative work effectively whilst mitigating risk.

Our development support team were able to take over maintenance of the system while enabling our client to manage the system more effectively internally. Our software developers completed a number of iterative items of development on time and budget, which made significant improvements to the system without disruption to the client’s business.

To achieve this our software developers refactored elements of the product to reduce complexity and significantly improve performance and time taken to generate reports. This also included full role-based permissions configurable by administrators from within the system itself so that changes can be made internally. Part of these enhancements involved moving the system’s database into Azure to provide greater scalability.

Not Just Travel now have a company that understands their product, can complete further enhancements and removes the element of risk from the business.

The software development that we completed proved to be a great success, and we have gone onto complete additional development to further enhance the product.
